Fall is such a wonderful time of year! Kids go back to school, everything just smells better (hellooo apple spice and crunchy leaves), and the changing of the seasons is a welcomed sight. Growing up in Ohio there was always a magic of fall; curling up with a blanket while a crisp breeze blew in the window, apple picking, hayrides, flannel shirts, football games and Halloween. Then, I moved to Southwest Florida where seasons don’t change and fall never comes. The cooler temperatures still warrant tank tops and flip flops, and the only cool breeze is inside with the A/C blasting.
With fall being close to my heart, it’s sometimes hard to bring it to life while living in such a warm climate. In Southwest Florida we don’t have apple orchards, the palms don’t change and the Gulf of Mexico is still in the 80’s. To most that sounds like a heavenly oasis, but to someone who cherishes the change of fall, living in a warm climate can sometimes be lackluster. Looking online for “fall activities”, I’ve found they don’t often align with a warm weather lifestyle. To most, fall family activities require the transition to a new season. Making fleece blankets or sewing a scarf aren’t on the top of my bucket list for 85°F.
Thankfully, there are so many ways to bring fall to a warm climate, and make the most of it with fun family activities. The best part is they don’t require a ton of money, and can be a weekend activity or fall family night fun! You no longer have to live up North to experience fall when you can bring fall home, wherever you live!
Here are some printable directions to activities mentioned above!
I hope you found some fun activities for you and your family this fall! Make sure to snap a picture and #beingmrsmcintosh on social media. I’d love to see what memories you and your family makes this season.
Happy fall y’all!
